PHY 242 General Physics II

This course is an algebra- and trigonometry-based introduction to the basic principles of electricity, magnetism, and optics. Topics include electric fields, direct-current circuits, magnetic fields, alternating-current circuits, mirrors and lenses, and wave optics. Waves and/or modern physics may also be covered at the discretion of the instructor. Problem solving and application of physical principles in a variety of contexts will be emphasized. The course includes three hours of lecture and three hours laboratory each week.
