NUR 441 Mental Health Nursing
This course focuses on safe, effective, culturally sensitive, patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care for patients with mental health problems across the lifespan. Historical, theoretical, legal, and ethical issues are analyzed. Emphasis is placed on therapeutic use of self, communication with inter- and intra-professional healthcare team members, information management and professional accountability. Nursing and intra-professional evidence-based interventions that enhance, promote, maintain, and restore mental health are analyzed. Two hours theory and one hour clinical/simulation lab. Prerequisites: NUR 343, 346. Summer.
