MUS 235 History of Jazz and Blues
This course surveys the history of two art forms that are uniquely American in their origin and development. It begins with the origins of jazz and blues in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, then traces the development of these forms and their influence on other forms of American music during the past one hundred plus years. The course serves as one of several options that fulfill the core curriculum requirements in the fine arts.
