BUS 340 Business Ethics

Business ethics is the study of what constitutes right and wrong or good and bad conduct in a business context. This course provides an understanding of the moral, social, and economic environment within which ethical issues arise; ethical concepts relevant to understanding ethical issues; and the reasoning and analytical skills needed for resolving ethical issues. The course examines the main theories of normative ethics, the institutional foundations of American business (focusing on capitalism), the moral problems related to the business’ relationship to the external world (customers and the environment), and the interplay between the firm and its stakeholders.
