Student Records and FERPA
Student records are maintained under the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended. Transcripts and information from the student’s permanent records, other than directory information, are released only upon the written request of the student. Students who wish to inspect their academic record may do so online via the University's administrative software system. Students who wish to inspect other records may do so by making a formal request to the appropriate office. Students have the lawful right to challenge the content of their educational record if the record contains any material which the student deems inaccurate or misleading. Concerns should be discussed with the appropriate University officer. If matters cannot be resolved in this manner, the student may request a formal hearing. The University protects the privacy of all students, including those enrolled in distance education courses in alignment with the FERPA 1974. Directory information is considered public information unless the student requests in writing to the Registrar that all or part of such information not be published. Students should provide a password to the Registrar’s Office for themselves and anyone they grant access to so that we may verify their identify over the phone.
