2022-23 Undergraduate Catalog

Fees

Tuition and comprehensive fees (i.e., maintenance and mandatory fees) as well as room, board, and all other academic fees are due before the start of the semester. The bursar’s office publishes the due date each semester. Accounts not satisfied by the published due date each semester will have their schedule purged.

Fees and tuition are established in June by the Board of Trustees in conjunction with legislative action which determines the annual appropriation to the institution. The fees listed in the Table of Fees take effect in 2022-2023, and may be subject to change.

Payment Policy

Any balance remaining on the account after all financial aid items have been applied must be satisfied by the published due date each semester. The student is responsible for completing any and all requirements for financial assistance. The student is responsible for any changes to the account as a result of adding/dropping classes.

Accounts must be satisfied by the published due date each semester or the schedule will be purged. An account can be satisfied by either (1) payment in full or (2) enrollment in an official payment plan with first installment completed. See Payment Plan Policy.

Any account not satisfied by the last day of the free drop/add period each semester will be automatically enrolled in the University’s payment plan and charged the appropriate payment plan fees ($45.00) and will be subject to all payment plan terms. See Payment Plan Policy.

Any account with unpaid tuition, fees, fines, or room and board charges on the last day of the payment period (last business day in October for Fall term or last business day in March for Spring term) will be assessed a $150.00 delinquent account fee. This includes accounts on a payment plan.

Any account with a balance due will be placed on hold(s), which prevent the student from registration for future classes, official transcripts, and/or receiving their diploma until all debts owed are paid in full. This includes accounts on a payment plan.

Account Purge Policy

Accounts must be satisfied by the published due date each semester or the schedule will be purged. An account can be satisfied by either (1) payment in full or (2) enrollment in an official payment plan with first installment completed.

Students with purged schedules may re-register after schedules are purged, but previous course selection is not guaranteed. Students who owe a balance for a previous semester can NOT re-register until their previous balance owed is paid in full.

Any student who registers for classes after the purge date must pay their fees before the first day of the semester to avoid any additional fees.

Any student who enrolls after the purge date but does not settle their account with the bursar’s office by the last day of the free drop/add period will be automatically enrolled in the university’s payment plan and charged the appropriate payment plan fees ($45.00) and will be subject to all payment plan terms. See Payment Plan Policy.

Payment Plan Policy

Payment plans are set up upon request by the student. A new request must be done each semester with the Bursar’s Office. Only current term charges may be deferred on a payment plan. Payment plans are set up using the current information available at the time of creation.

A $45.00 payment plan setup fee is charged to the student’s account. The new total including the payment plan fee is divided into THREE (3) equal installments. Installment amounts may change over time to account for any new charges, payments, or financial aid adjustments.

If a student wants a payment plan, then the student must contact the Bursar’s Office to enroll in a payment plan and complete their first installment payment (1/3 of the overall total) by the published due date each semester to avoid cancellation of classes.

The account must be paid in full to allow student access to registration services.

The account must be paid in full by the end of the payment period (last business day in October for Fall term or last business day in March for Spring term) to prevent delinquent account fees.

Students on a payment plan can choose to pay their account in full at any time with no penalty (note: the payment plan fee is non-refundable).

Payment plan details are subject to change. Details on current policy are housed in the Bursar’s Office.

Failure to meet the terms of the payment plan agreement may entitle UT Southern to (1) declare the full balance plus late fees immediately due and payable by law, (2) refuse subsequent registration for any classes and/or drop current classes, (3) deny future enrollment in any payment plan, and (4) withhold grades, diplomas, or transcripts from being released until the unpaid balance, as well as all attorney fees, legal expenses, and other collection costs are paid in full.
