CJ 420 Research Methods

This course is designed to help the student become familiar with, understand, and apply basic research methods, and their application to the criminal justice discipline. The students will study research designs, sampling methods, types of data, ethical consideration of criminologial research, and an introduction to data analysis. Students will review and become familiar with various methods of research, including qualitative and quantitative research methods as they are used in criminal justice research. Review and discussion of the process of analysis, interpretation, and clarification of problems and issues of confidentiality, as well as the terminology of research, will be used to focus the student’s preparation for the role of research consumer.
